Tennessee Association of Surgical Technologist

Invites you to the 2012 Scrub Bowl Competition to be held during our
Annual State Convention


Marriott Downtown Chattanooga

March 3, 2012

Eligibility
One team per CAAHEP accredited program in Tennessee.

A team will consist of three students plus one alternate.
All team members must be currently enrolled as a surgical technology student for the team in which they are participating for.
No changes may be made to the roster after February 23, 2012.
Cost
There is an entry fee of $200 per team. Each teams consist of three students plus one alternate.
The entry fee allows each student team member admittance to the conference for the day of the scrub bowl only.
If students wish to attend the second day of the convention, there is an additional fee of $50 per person.

What’s at Stake
The winning school will receive 4 student registrations, for the scrub bowl, the following year.
The winning school will receive a plaque to proudly display at their school.
Competition and Rules
All schools must have their registration in no later than February 22, 2012.
Each team must register through reg-online. Go to www.tnast.org<http://www.tnast.org> , from the “Home” tab click “Annual State Convention”.
The competition will be held on the first day of the TN AST annual convention.
All questions are multiple choice.
Questions have been derived from and/or similar to those found in AST Surgical Technologist Certifying Exam Study Guide and Surgical Technology for the Surgical Technologist.
Teams will be divided into brackets, single elimination.
In the event of a tie, a sudden death round will be played. The first team to answer correctly wins.
Time for each round will be determined by how many teams are competing.  No more than 15 minutes.
After the question is given the competing teams will have 10 seconds to write down their answer, on the provided slate.
When the moderator calls the time, each participating team will immediately turn their slates around showing their answer.
Any question started prior to the end of the round will be completed and each team will have the opportunity to answer.
Teams will be awarded one point for each correct answer.
The questions will be displayed on a screen, in power-point format, as the question is being read by the moderator.

*Cell Phones are not allowed during competition!
